Absolutely, in most cases it’s simply not worth bothering with a narcissist. It can just be difficult to make that call, and when it’s family, it does get complicated. But you’re right, staying away is always an option. Recognising the efforts you’re going to to keep the relationship stable is a good way to uncover what’s really going on, better equipping the individual to make a decision about where to draw the line.
